The purpose of this chapter is to introduce the learner to the concept of e-commerce and e-business. The revolution that the Internet has brought to the world is not only limited to the creation of the virtual world of websites, the dissemination of information and its use for decision making. The great innovation it has brought is the creation of the global distribution network for products and services. The new forms of communication and product distribution have changed the structure of the market and production as well as the consumer behavior of citizens. This chapter analyses the term Electronic Commerce (E-Commerce) as the processes of buying, selling, moving and exchanging products and information through computer networks, especially the Internet. Electronic commerce, compared to traditional commerce, has introduced and established many innovations and offers new opportunities to businesses and individuals. Electronic Business (E-Business), i.e., the use of the Internet and other electronic media to support commercial activities and to improve the performance of the business is also analyzed.
